    Silicone: IT Newsletter - Making it easier to connect the world

    1. Introduction to silicone materials

    Organosilicon refers to compounds that contain Si-C bonds and have at least one organic group connected to a silicon atom. Compounds that connect organic groups to silicon atoms through oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, etc. are also commonly regarded as organosilicon compounds. , among them, polysiloxanes composed of silicon-oxygen bonds (-Si-O-Si-) as the skeleton are the most numerous, most deeply researched and most widely used among organosilicon compounds, accounting for about 90% of the total usage.

    At present, there are many silicone products, with more than 10,000 varieties and brands, mainly divided into four categories: silicone rubber, silicone oil and secondary processed products, silicone resin and silane coupling agent. Because of its small direct usage but wide range of uses, it is called industrial monosodium glutamate and a catalyst for technological development.

    2. Application of silicone materials in communications

    Organic silicon materials have excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, electrical insulation, ozone, radiation, moisture, vibration, compression, good thermal conductivity, non-toxic, non corrosive, and physiological inertness, and are widely used in the communication field.

    • Terminals such as mobile phones and notebook computers: used for sealing and protecting sensitive circuits in terminal equipment, as adhesives for fixing components, such as the bonding of mobile phone frames, moisture-proof sealing of chips, heat dissipation of processors, etc.;

    • Communication power supply: sealing and heat dissipation of communication power supply components, dustproof and waterproof;

    • BBU: Silicon materials such as thermal grease and thermal pads are used for heat dissipation and protection of chips;

    • RRU: Silicon materials such as thermal grease and thermal pads are used for heat dissipation and protection of base station power (RF) amplifiers;

    • Antenna: Potting glue and coating are used for the protection of antenna arresters and frequency modulators, conductive silica gel resists electromagnetic interference, heat dissipation, etc.;

    • PCB: Silicone coating is used as a thin layer protective material for circuit boards to seal and protect components against moisture and dust.

    In general, silicone materials can be used in communications for heat dissipation, electromagnetic shielding, bonding, sealing and protection.
